Abby O'Boyle wins Nick Willis Scholarship
Talented Southland athlete Abby O’Boyle (St Pauls) has won a prestigious Nick Willis Scholarship after impressive performances at the South Island Colgate Games.
Abby won gold in the 800m and 1500m, along with silver in the high jump in the Grade 14 girls section in Dunedin last weekend, following on from winning silver in the 800m and bronze in the 1500m at the North Island Games.
Awarded for the first time in 2013, the Scholarship are named in honour of Colgate Games alumnus and two-time Olympic 1500m medalist Nick Willis. Eight scholarships, which include a financial contribution towards travel or other costs, are awarded each year, four in the North Island and four in the South Island.
